GIVEAWAY Reminder

I am posting this especially for Vivian.
She asked how we made the frame in yesterday's giveaway.

Reminder:
How would you like my POE canvas?

It is basically a 19 by 24 cm burnt plywood frame attached to a canvas.
If you would like to go in the draw to win this email me the answer to the question below
susanrenshaw0404@gmail.com

I am happy to mail overseas (I am in the UK) but please check that it would be allowed through your customs.

I have revised the question slightly thanks to Val:
The revised version of a poem Poe originally composed in the 1820s  was published in 1849, "A _____ Within a _____". What is the one word that goes in both blanks?

I will announce the winner on February 1st.

You have also seen the technique used in my mixed media calendar:

And this is a Creepmas make...

So how did we make my grunge-y background...?

I don't suppose I would try this technique on my own - it's the sort of experiment my husband and chemistry teacher daughter like to play with.

The video is rather long but watching a little will give you the idea ...basically electricity is passed through a piece of plywood coated with sodium bicarbonate solution to produce burnt figures. The electricity is produced using a microwave transformer. There are lots of videos on You Tube explaining how you do this.

It is pretty dangerous!!

This is the result: burnt, grimy, dirty - grunge-y!
