When we were hoping the US oil workers strike will end soon, workers in the north west Ohio have joined the first nationwide strike in US since 1980. About 100 BP-Husky Toledo workers started picketing at midnight outside the plant in Oregon. A local union official said that the number of workers that will be on strike is 350.
However, BP spokesperson said they will continue operating with replacement workers and do not expect significant effect on production.
You will recall the strike began after steel workers said negotiations with Shell had broken down.
Shell is negotiating on behalf of other oil companies.
