Top 25 Music Videos of 2017! (#10-#6)

The previous five videos on my year-end, best of 2017 list came from Dua Lipa, Misterwives and Miley Cyrus. Their reflective, inspiring and innovative statements were easily some of the best of their careers, which meant wonders for the viewers. For the next set of five deserving visuals, things get a bit more scandalous as Charli XCX calls for male celebrity cameos, Steve Grand makes a full-fledged pop debut, and Todrick Hall joins forces with a legendary mentor. Enjoy.

#10. "Boys" by Charli XCX
        65,164,433 views (as of 12/16/17)

Thanks to Charli XCX's desire to flip the sexual script in 2017, we were able to spend a few intimate minutes with hunky men for her "Boys" supporting music video. For years, male artists have objectified women for their tacky visuals. Now, the tables have turned, yet still captured in a respectable, endearing and humorous way. Joe Jonas, Tom Daley, Brendon Urie, Charlie Puth and Cameron Dallas are just a few names making love to the camera, thankfully bringing pancakes and chainsaws into the mix. Eye candy galore is the perfect concept for every music video. No boys were harmed.

#9. "Walking" by Steve Grand
      158,201 views (as of 12/16/17)

Independent artist Steve Grand is pushing forward and embracing his pop star identity. Though the original concept for his "Walking" music video did not go according to plan, the released love story/life documentary visual might have come out better than expected. Featuring spliced together scenes highlighting the struggle of commitment with another and behind-the-scenes shots of bloopers and unexpected choreography. Thrown in a glimpse of jockstrap, leather and Pure for Men advertisements for fun, and Grand nailed his more entertaining, authentic and promising visual to date.

#8. "You Already Know" by Fergie feat. Nicki Minaj
      12,717,988 views (as of 12/16/17)

The Dutchess returns, with Nicki Minaj now at her side. For the black-and-white "You Already Know" music video, the artist once again chose a rather simplistic premise to effectively showcase relentless attitude and the female body. Playing more like an abstract fashion film, most of the four minute-visual simply highlights sharp looks and close-up perfection of the artist, effortlessly defying age and commanding attention. Minaj surprisingly remains throughout, even when her stellar rap verse is over, and lends a supporting hand in the edgy, polished piece of art.

#7. "Praying" by Kesha
      70,782,945 views (as of 12/16/17)

Overcoming her demons and legal issues was a hard lesson learned for Kesha. Yet she fought up until her glorious, acclaimed comeback. For the technicolor, emotional, Jonas Åkerlund-directed music video in support of "Praying", the damaged artist worked tirelessly to maintain hope and regain her strength to push forward. With a complex and intense storyline following a fallen angel who remains pure, the artist uses stunning costumes, religious imagery and her trademark love for glitter to make a powerful statement of internal battles resistance. Moments of personal therapy caught on tape.

#6. "Low" by Todrick Hall feat. RuPaul
      8,375,720 views (as of 12/16/17)

Independent artist/Broadway star Todrick Hall had already impressed millions with his Straight Outta Oz visual album. However, he felt the need to top himself with a deluxe version in 2017. Included? A remix version of "Low" featuring none other than the legendary RuPaul. Updated and polished compared to the original version, the costumes are upgraded, the production value is heightened, the hunks are more chiseled, the chemistry between both artists is endearing and the immense creativity is highlighted at every corner. Todrick made every creative director jealous with this passionate project.
